PASADENA, United States – NASA’s Juno spacecraft has revealed previously unseen subsurface heat signatures beneath the crust of Io, Jupiter’s most volcanically active moon. Data collected by Juno’s Microwave Radiometer (MWR) indicates distinct geothermal activity, providing critical insights into the internal mechanisms driving Io’s extreme volcanism, according to a recent report by NASA Science.
