Relebohile Mofokeng Completes Four-Year Deal with RUSG from Orlando Pirates

BRUSSELS, BELGIUM and JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA – South African attacking midfielder Relebohile Mofokeng, 21, has finalized a four-year contract with Belgian Pro League club Royale Union Saint-Gilloise (RUSG), transferring from Orlando Pirates.

The deal, confirmed by RUSG on Thursday, concludes a period of speculation following an agreement in principle announced by Orlando Pirates on Wednesday, subject to a medical and personal terms being finalized. The transfer fee is reported to be at least R55 million, which translates to approximately USD 3.3 million.

Reports from SABC Sport’s Mazola Molefe suggest the transfer fee is a minimum of R55 million, with former Pirates brand and sponsorship manager Joseph Bertrand indicating via an X post that the figure could be significantly higher. Mofokeng will wear the number 38 shirt for RUSG, and the club holds an option to extend his contract by a further year beyond its initial 2030 expiry.

In a statement released by the club, Mofokeng expressed his enthusiasm for the move, calling it a “dream to play in Europe” and highlighting his anticipation for the upcoming Champions League qualifying campaign.
