Boeing

The Boeing Company was founded in 1916 and builds commercial aircraft, defence systems and space hardware. It is listed on the New York Stock Exchange.

Commercial aeroplanes are sold to airlines and leasing companies on order books that run years ahead, which makes the business a long-cycle one where production rates and delivery schedules matter more than any single quarter. A defence, space and security arm sells to governments, and a global services division earns from maintenance and parts across the installed fleet.

African carriers buy from a duopoly of two manufacturers, so Boeing’s production problems, delivery delays and pricing shape fleet planning and route economics for airlines that had no part in causing them.
